How We Serve

Where and how do we serve?

Olive Branch Ministries focuses most of its efforts and resources partnering with OBM Peru to bring comprehensive medical trips to the region. Medical trips can encompass multiple disciplines such as overall medical care, dental, eyeglass evaluation, physical therapy, among others; depending on the professionals that travel on each trip. You do NOT have to be a medical professional to serve on one of these trips! There is plenty of room for anyone to serve and use their talents to enhance our medical trips!

Also, each year we take a team to Escuela Hogar Comunitaria Regional Sagrada Familia, a local school in Ventanilla, Peru. We work in conjunction with the faculty, staff and local church to bring a fun and exciting vacation bible school experience to over 1,200 students.

Who can serve on a trip?

  • We are a faith based/Christian organization however, you do not have to be Christian or associated with any religion to serve with Olive Branch Ministries. All are welcome.
  • You are traveling with a group and must be willing to follow the group rules. This can be a challenge for experienced travelers. Make sure you have the temperament to travel and serve with a group.
  • Those who are 12 years old and up. Children ages 12 – 17 years old must have a parent or an adult who is legally responsible for them on the trip. If only one parent (or grandparent) is traveling with an underage child there is additional paperwork to be signed and notarized by the parent(s) not coming on the trip.
  • Physicians, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, Pharmacists, Physical Therapists, Dentists, Dental Assistants and EMTs.

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months past the time you will enter the country.
  • Trip Insurance that includes emergency evacuation coverage.
  • Vaccination for COVID.
  • You are responsible for checking with a travel clinic and/or your health care provider regarding any vaccinations (other than COVID) you need. The CDC website is also a good source of information.

If you do not have a passport or need to renew your passport – you must have your passport in time to be presented with your other paperwork to the MOH.
  • On some of our trips we will have university students with us. They will have faculty with them, but we also ask you to be willing to teach and interact with them. Some of the students will be in medical school, nursing school etc. and some will be undergraduates who are interested in going into health care.

How Much Does A Trip Cost?

  • Medical trips are $1,250 plus international airfare plus domestic airfare within the country we are serving. Not all trips will have domestic airfare.
  • Nonmedical trips are $1,000 plus international airfare plus domestic airfare within the country we are serving. Not all trips will have domestic airfare.

  • We have recently started working with Public Health professionals and students on some trips. This includes teaching on health issues and recently we built a composting latrine.

Are these trips safe?

Yes! Your safety is our number one priority. With our Olive Branch Ministries Peru division we always have hands and feet on the ground pre-trip, during and trip and post trip. Not only does OBM monitor information from the State Department but OBM Peru works in conjunction with local officials to monitor any issue that would make it unsafe to travel. We also hire local translators to stay with the team 24/7 from when the team arrives until they depart. They assist in all activities.

Are there opportunities for culture immersion side trips?

Yes! On most trips to Peru there will be opportunities to visit amazing restaurants, local markets, city tours and other local experiences. In addition on specific trips there will be opportunities to add a group multi day side trip to Cusco and Machu Picchu. If you are interested in serving on a trip that does not offer a group side trip please ask about the opportunity to set-up a private trip.
